Richmondshire Cricket Club:

Situated in the beautiful North Yorkshire market town of Richmond, the first of all the many Richmond's in the world, Richmondshire Cricket Club is at the heart of the local community and has strong relationships with both town and district councils, the local primary and secondary schools and the British Army at Catterick Garrison.

Founded in 1837, Richmondshire Cricket Club has a long history and currently plays its cricket in the North Yorkshire South Durham (NYSD) ECB Premier League, the Darlington and District League and the Wensleydale Evening League. With six men’s teams turning out every week and the same number of junior teams, we are one of the largest clubs in the North East and the ground at Hurgill Road is one of the most picturesque grounds in the region.

Richmondshire Cricket Club is ECB Clubmark accredited and is respected and admired for leading the way in the development of Junior cricket, with nearly 120 boys and girls enjoying cricket right throughout the year.

Richmondshire Cricket Club and Richmond School have set up what is believed to be the first Cricket Foundation in the state school sector; delivering coaching throughout the district and beyond; and building a brand new cricket pitch and state of the art pavilion on school grounds which the 4th XI & 5th XI and the many junior teams from the club have now begun to use.

These are exciting and successful times to be involved with the club with the 1st XI winning the NYSD Premier league title in 2012, 2013 and 2015 and winning the Macmillan Cup in 2016 and Kerridge Cup in 2017.

The 2nd XI have also been very successful winning the Division One '2nd Teams Salver' for the past 5 seasons as well as the NYSD Division 1 15's title in 2014 and Robinson Cup in 2015.

The youthful 3rd XI have also had success winning the Sunday Division 1 title in 2017 and the Arthur Sanders Cup in 2014 and 2016.

The Under 17's have been the dominant force in NYSD junior cricket over the last few seasons and in 2017, they won all five of the major trophies available to them. A simply magnificent season and with all the players still available to play this season, more silverware is expected in 2018.

Richmondshire Cricket Club offers excellent facilities to both players and social members alike and offers an excellent venue for weddings, christenings and all kinds of parties and functions.

The Club is open all year, but really comes to life in the summer months when it is the best beer garden in Yorkshire.
