NEW PROFESSIONAL FOR 2019!

Following the loss of the outstanding Matthew McKiernan to Derbyshire County Cricket Club, Richmondshire Cricket Club are pleased to announce the signing of overseas cricket professional Stephen Reeves for the 2019 season.

Stephen is 23 years old and has played for the Dolphins Cubs, KwaZuluNatal Inland Under-19s and Durham 2nd XI.  He has also played in the North Yorkshire South Durham League as professional for Middlesbrough Cricket Club. Stephen is a Right-hand batsman and Slow left-arm orthodox bowler who is highly regarded within the league and by his new team mates at Richmondshire CC.

Stephen is looking forward to the new challenge and helping Richmondshire Cricket Club progress in all sections of the club. We look forward to welcoming Stephen in April 2019 and hope he, the team and the club as a whole have another really successful season.

FURTHER RECOGNITION AND AWARDS:

Following on from the club's historic victory in the ECB National Club Championship, the club has been receiving local and regional recognition.  Club Chairman, Mark Layfield last week accepted the Northern Echo Local Heroes 2018 Team of the Year Award at a presentation evening at Wynyard Hall.

This follows on from November's Town Council civic reception at Richmond Town Hall where the mayor heralded the unprecedented success of the club in winning 15 trophies.

RICHMONDSHIRE CRICKET CLUB:
Situated in the beautiful North Yorkshire market town of Richmond, Richmondshire Cricket Club is at the heart of the local community and has strong relationships with both town and district councils, the primary and secondary schools and the British Army at Catterick Garrison.
Founded in 1837, Richmondshire Cricket Club has a long history and currently plays its cricket in the North Yorkshire South Durham (NYSD) ECB Premier League, the Darlington and District League and the Wensleydale Evening League.  With six men’s teams turning out every week and the same number of junior teams, we are one of the largest clubs in the North East and the ground at Hurgill Road is one of the most picturesque grounds in the region.  Richmondshire Cricket Club is ECB Clubmark accredited and is respected and admired for leading the way in the development of Junior and female cricket, with nearly 100 boys and girls enjoying cricket right throughout the year.  Richmondshire Cricket Club and Richmond School have set up what is believed to be the first Cricket Foundation in the state school sector; delivering coaching throughout the district and beyond; and building a new cricket pitch on school grounds which the 4th & 5th Teams both now use.
The Clubhouse at Richmondshire Cricket Club

These are exciting and successful times to be involved with the club with the 1st XI winning the league title in 1995, 2012, 2013 and 2015 as well as a number of the major premier division cup competitions over the last few seasons.  The team also wrote itself into the history books in 2018 being the first NYSD club side in the 125-year history of the league to win the National Club Championship, a simply magnificent achievement by this young side.
The 2nd XI and 3rd XI have also been very successful in recent seasons winning much silverware and the all-conquering Under 17’s have been the dominant force in the junior leagues over the past two seasons.
Richmondshire Cricket Club offers excellent facilities to both players and social members alike and offers an excellent venue for weddings, christenings and all kinds of parties and functions.  The Club is open all year, but really comes to life in the summer months when it is the best beer garden in Yorkshire.
